This blog is simply a picture a day blog with the challenge to do it for a year. My friend Brandy and her mom, Robyn, started their POTD (Picture Of The Day) blogs at the beginning of the year. When I bought Brandy's old camera from her, I decided I would join them in this little adventure. My goal is to slowly learn how to use my new camera with settings other than automatic, and to learn how to edit pictures on the computer. If nothing else, it will be a reminder of our daily life this year, what we were up to, what the kids' were doing, and how much everyone has changed. I hope you enjoy the small glimpse into our lives.

This is our new shed that Josh put up this weekend.  It will be great to have a place to store things until we get a garage up.  Then it will be a perfect little garden shed.

It's always fun to look out the window and see a bunch of cows in your yard!

I didn't take this picture and my camera wasn't even used for it. I didn't actually get a picture taken on Sunday, but somebody else got a picture of all of us with my parents.  We were at my cousin's son's graduation.

Lydia just LOVES when Brooke shares her I Pod with her.  Brooke just does it to keep Lydia quiet.

05.26.2011

We had an American Idol party this morning so we could see who won before we heard it on the radio or something.  Sophia, Allison, and Lydia cuddled on the couch for part of the show.  But when the M&M's were gone, so was their patience and they were sent to their room to play.

Emily took this picture of Allison on two swings.  I'm not sure of the purpose of this, but as long as they were having fun I guess it's all good!

The Missouri River is flooding right now.  It has been crazy to see the whole river bottom look like a lake.  I haven't seen this happen in years.  I wonder if it could ever make it over the road?

It's a nightmare to get them to fall asleep in the same bed, but once they are asleep, I love to see them snuggle in so close to each other.

05.19.2011

I didn't have a picture today so I went outside this evening to see what I could find to take a picture of.  Most of the shots didn't turn out because it was already too dark.  But this one was ok, so it's my POTD.

My big girls.  I love when I can get a picture of them together.

05.17.2011

I was scrolling through to see what I had for pictures tonight.  I found this one and thought is was pretty neat to see the turkeys on top of the hill across from our house.  I have no idea who took it, I just found it on the camera card!

Allison crashed for nap time with the pillow on top of her head.  It was pretty sweet.

Sophia and Allison were laying in my bed tonight.  I hope they aren't kicking us out!

This is sad, I know.  But, it is a picture and I did take it today.  It'll have to do.

Bristol and Lydia had a blast playing on the piano together.  It was so cute to watch them pound away on the keys.  Sometimes it even sounded like they knew what they were doing!

This is Brooke's spring strings concert.  It was a beautiful concert.  She's the third head in from the left.  You can't really see her in this picture because it is so dark.  But you get the idea seeing the group.

Sophia was so excited this morning because she spotted a turkey walking around our yard.  I have to admit, I was pretty excited, too, seeing it right out our window.  I quickly grabbed the camera in hopes of getting a couple good shots.  I like this one because you can see our cat in the background getting ready to pounce on the poor unsuspecting turkey.  And he did pounce on him.  It was hilarious to watch the shock of the turkey.  He spread his wings and flew or jumped or whatever.  Then he strutted quickly away with the cat following close behind.  He managed to make it up the hill and our cat must be lazy because he quickly gave up when he saw the turkey heading up that big hill.  Well, maybe just once I will have to post two pictures so you can see the cat trying to get the turkey!

05.05.2011

The girls have been working hard helping me spring clean bedrooms so when I had to go into town for some things I decided to take them to the park for a break.  It was a beautiful day to be out in the fresh air.  Emily and Grace love to jump off the swings so I took a few pictures.  I just love this one of Grace in the air.

05.04.2011

I figured I had better snap a photo before the clock struck midnight.  This is Lydia's first night sharing a bed with Allison.  We did a major cleaning of the little girls' room today.  When I say major I mean we worked from 11:00 in the morning until 5:00 in the afternoon, only breaking for a quick lunch.  But we got a lot done!  One of the things we did was take down the toddler bed so that is why Lydia is sleeping with Allison.  I don't think it is going to be very fun for a while.  Tonight I had to sit in the hall and watch for about an hour before Lydia finally fell asleep at about 10:30.  But anyway, Grace made their bed tonight so that they could sleep sideways and each have a little more room.  It's pretty cute.  We'll just have to see how it goes, we don't have many other options for sleeping arrangements.  I wanted the toddler bed down so they had more room for their toys.  That part is really nice!

Just one of the downed power line poles along our highway.  It was hard to believe driving around today that just yesterday the ground was completely blanketed in snow from our big storm!
